Sake sharing

San San Kudo

Eri&Justin celebrated their wedding on April 10 at the Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga with hundreds of handmade Origami birds for their guests. After their ceremony they exchanged cups of sake (rice wine) in the san-san-kudo, or “three-times-three,” ceremony.

Parents and couple “broke the mirror”, the lid on the barrel, with wooden hammers…splashing Justin’s suit.. Everybody had a blast sipping sake from wooden Sake cups to celebrate the bond between families and friends.

One of the most spirited lines I’ve seen so far – the sake sharing crowd was excited. The wooden cups also made cute favors.

The sake ceremony shared the top of the wedding highlights with amazing performances of professional friends: song writers and comedians and Eri’s traditional reading of her “letter to her parents”. Beer right from the keg makes any party fun and the delicious organic wedding cake by pastry chef Alehandro surrounded by gourmet cookies was a fitting finale.

Eri loves her cute things:
